چکیده

As we know, a moving target’s azimuth shift in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image is proportional to the projected velocity of its across-track velocity in the slant-range plane. Therefore, we can relocate the moving target in SAR image after estimating its velocity. However, when the Doppler ambiguity occurs due to the limitation of the SAR system’s pulse repetition frequency (PRF), this relationship will not hold any more, in this case, we cannot relocate the moving target to the right position. The Doppler spectrum of a moving target with arbitrary velocity may entirely situate in a PRF band or span in two neighboring PRF bands. In this paper, we conduct a detailed theoretical analysis on the moving target’s azimuth shift for these two scenarios. According to the derived formulas, one can relocate a moving target with arbitrary velocity to the right position no matter the Doppler ambiguity occurs or not. Simulated data are processed to validate the analysis.

Signatures of Moving Target in Polar For- Mat Spotlight Sar Image

The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signatures of moving target are the basis of ground moving target detection and imaging (GMTI&Im). However, previous studies are mainly based on the 2-D separable SAR processing, and little work has been done to investigate the signatures of moving target after the application of a particular fine resolution SAR image formation algorithm. In this paper, the sp...

Moving Target Detection and Trajectory Estimation Using SAR Data

Conventional Synthetic Aperture Radar processing leads to moving targets being imaged displaced from their real positions and blurred. This is mainly due to the used reference phase no longer being valid, including an additional Doppler-shift and a Doppler-spread. Since these effects are not considered in the focusing algorithm, the resulting SAR image shows the moving targets defocused and/or ...

First Spaceborne SAR-GMTI Experimental Results for the Chinese Gaofen-3 Dual-Channel SAR Sensor

In spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors, it is a challenging task to detect ground slow-moving targets against strong clutter background with limited spatial channels and restricted pulse repetition frequency (PRF). In this paper, we evaluate the image-based dual-channel SAR-ground moving target indication (SAR-GMTI) workflow for the Gaofen-3 SAR sensor and analyze the impact of st...

Detecting Moving Targets in SAR Imagery by Using a Phase-Error Correction Algorithm

Motion of a target induces phase errors in a synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) signal (phase) history that cause the image of the moving target to be smeared in azimuth. We can detect the presence of a moving target by sensing the smearing, as follows. We divide the complex image of a scene that includes a moving target into a grid of patches, and apply a phase-error correction algorithm to each p...

A Moving Target in a SAR Image Analysed with Time-Frequency Methods

Moving targets within SAR scenes are distorted depending on the particulars of the target motion. For small motions, the uncompensated phase of a point reflector is a sum of a term proportional to the range component of the target motion, and a more complicated term depending on the azimuth motion. The resulting phase may be analysed with time-frequency techniques since the motion effect may al...
